Instructions to the Applicant

The information you provide in this Application will be used in the background investigation to assist in determining your suitability for the position of San Andreas Peace Officer, in accordance with POST.
  • It is your responsibility to complete this form and provide all required information.
  • This document must be filled out electronically and printed.
  • You must respond to all items and questions. Check applicable boxes with an "X". If a question does not apply to you, write “D.N.A” (does not apply) in the space provided for your response.
  • By submitting this form, you affirm that you have read and understood the Essential Job Functions and Selection Requirements of the position applied for.
  • (( Preview your application before submitting it to make sure that all the BBCode works properly. If it does not, use the blank application format as a guidance tool to fix it. Try to avoid touching the BBCode and only fill out text answers, and that way it will not break. ))
Disqualification

There are very few automatic bases for rejection. Even issues of prior misconduct, such as prior illegal drug use, driving under the influence, theft, or even arrest or conviction are usually not, in and of themselves, automatically disqualifying. However, deliberate misstatements or omissions can and often will result in your application being rejected, regardless of the nature or reason for the misstatements/omissions. In fact, the number one reason individuals “fail” background investigations is because they deliberately withhold or misrepresent job-relevant information from their prospective employer.

BOTTOM LINE: You are responsible for providing complete, accurate, and truthful responses.

Spoiler: show
Riccardo Giordano was born and grew up in Pinewood, a small town where everybody knew everybody. Less than one thousand people-somebody would say it wasn't difficult to feel connected-and Riccardo always felt he was part of something bigger. Since his childhood, he was always remembered as a polite, diligent, reliable kid. His parents were both hugely involved in the community, instilling in him values about being kind, responsible, and of service to others. Values that stuck with Riccardo and became the very foundation for everything he did.

Growing up, Riccardo was always first to lend a hand. From helping a neighbor carry groceries up the stairs to pitching in for any local fundraiser, he loved being involved. His cheerfulness and attention to finishing things won over friends and classmates alike. In school, he liked history and civics because it had something to do with justice and how rules shaped societies. These subjects just clicked with him and made him know he was going to be working in law enforcement with the desire to make a difference that truly mattered.

When he graduated with honors from high school, Riccardo knew he wanted to become a sheriff. Yet, he also realized that just desiring the job was secondary; what he needed was the acquisition of appropriate skills and knowledge. He decided to go to the community college nearby, majoring in law enforcement with a specialization in criminal justice. That was not all. Riccardo also kept himself fit, aware that the sheriff's job required both mental and physical strengths.

But Riccardo didn't stop here. He wanted to know more about his community, so he also volunteered with youth programs and neighborhood watch groups. He loved hands-on practice that it gave him and further showed what protection of a community could really include. Working in such programs with other people taught him crime prevention, teamwork, building up relationships with people, and many more important things. It wasn't about just upholding the law; it was being there for the people in need.

The improvement of Pinewood was always in front of Riccardo on his journey: from the student ever thoughtful and industrious to the choice of a law enforcement career path, everything he has done so far has been in the way of helping. His is not the story of a goal reached but an act of high commitment to his town and to the people inhabiting it. Through his studies, physical training, and community involvement, Riccardo has proved that he is ready for Pinewood's responsibility. He is a person who cares, one that is not only thinking about the future of the town but is working for it.
