Disqualification

There are very few automatic bases for rejection. Even issues of prior misconduct, such as prior illegal drug use, driving under the influence, theft, or even arrest or conviction are usually not, in and of themselves, automatically disqualifying. However, deliberate misstatements or omissions can and often will result in your application being rejected, regardless of the nature or reason for the misstatements/omissions. In fact, the number one reason individuals “fail” background investigations is because they deliberately withhold or misrepresent job-relevant information from their prospective employer.

BOTTOM LINE: You are responsible for providing complete, accurate, and truthful responses.

Spoiler: show
Nate Montreal was born in 2001 into a middle-class family. His father worked as a mechanic, despite being a skilled mechanic throughout his working life, Nate's dad thought people looked down on him because he had paint and oil stains all over him and his mother was a nurse who barely showed a face at home due to her late night shifts. With both parents often busy with their own careers to put food on the table, Nate spent much of his childhood on the streets of El Corona and 38th although his family instilled values in him which they hoped would not attract him to the hood, but despite the looming threat of being drawn into gang life - Nate remembered these core principles and remained disciplined in his school work, a quality deeply enriched in him by his father, who always emphasized the importance of family, hard work and determination. Although the family did not live the typical 'American Dream', they shared the common behavior of all those around them - faking it till they made it whilst baring the financial difficulties common to the neighborhood.

Growing up under his father's guidance and determination, Nate never had to work or want anything in his childhood, therefore he faced a harsh reality after graduating from Creenshaw High with an average GPA. Financial constraints meant his family could not send him to University, and his lack of effort in school took the opportunity away from him for the prospects of harnessing a scholarship, thus putting Nate between a rock and a hard place, and ultimately seek employment within the area whilst being persuaded not to end up like the rest of the guys his age in 38th; selling drugs, or locked away. Finding a job was a challenge, but a challenge which Nate would learn from, but despite facing numerous rejections due to his lack of experience, he eventually sought employment as a cashier at Idlewood 24/7 where wasn't too far away from his place of residence. The job was father demanding, with long hours on his feet, minimum wage, and the store being the epicenter for anything from petty theft to armed robbery, which shaped Nate into the individual he is today and dismayed him from the prospects of becoming a hoodlum.

Feeling stressed out, overworked, and dissatisfied with the trajectory in which Nate was looking towards. He turned to his always supportive father for advice, who suggested he should apply to the Sheriff's Department - His initial opinion was to ignore the opportunity in front of him, but whilst walking past one day, he decided to take the step inside the department. The reek of coffee, sweat and general lack of hygiene of the precinct was enough to turn anybody away. However, Nate took a recruitment drive letter from the front desk and, in shear desperation to change his life and make something out of him has led to this moment, to walk a new path and start fresh.
