  • It is your responsibility to complete this form and provide all required information.
  • This document must be filled out electronically and printed.
  • You must respond to all items and questions. Check applicable boxes with an "X". If a question does not apply to you, write “D.N.A” (does not apply) in the space provided for your response.
  • By submitting this form, you affirm that you have read and understood the Essential Job Functions and Selection Requirements of the position applied for.
  • (( Preview your application before submitting it to make sure that all the BBCode works properly. If it does not, use the blank application format as a guidance tool to fix it. Try to avoid touching the BBCode and only fill out text answers, and that way it will not break. ))
Disqualification

There are very few automatic bases for rejection. Even issues of prior misconduct, such as prior illegal drug use, driving under the influence, theft, or even arrest or conviction are usually not, in and of themselves, automatically disqualifying. However, deliberate misstatements or omissions can and often will result in your application being rejected, regardless of the nature or reason for the misstatements/omissions. In fact, the number one reason individuals “fail” background investigations is because they deliberately withhold or misrepresent job-relevant information from their prospective employer.

BOTTOM LINE: You are responsible for providing complete, accurate, and truthful responses.

Spoiler: show
Cody Quintero was born and raised in Willowfield, one of the toughest gang-ridden neighborhoods in Los Santos. The area was notorious for its violent crime, drug trade, and the constant presence of rival gang members. Growing up in this environment, Cody was no stranger to the dangers that lurked around every corner. He knew how to navigate the streets, avoid conflict, and keep his head down. Yet, despite the chaos surrounding him, Cody had a different vision for his future—one that didn’t involve falling into the same cycle that had claimed so many of his peers.

Raised by a single mother after his father was incarcerated for gang-related activity, Cody’s life was filled with challenges from the start. His mother worked long hours as a housekeeper, often leaving Cody and his older sister, Rosa, to fend for themselves. Rosa was the one who kept Cody out of trouble in his younger years, but even her guidance had its limits. By the time Cody was in middle school, gang members had already begun recruiting some of his classmates, and the temptation of quick money and respect was hard to resist.

Cody’s turning point came when his cousin, Javier, who had been deeply involved with one of Willowfield’s most dangerous gangs, was gunned down in broad daylight. Javier’s death wasn’t just another statistic in Willowfield—it was a personal tragedy that shook Cody to his core. The helplessness he felt at not being able to stop the violence or save his cousin fueled a burning desire within him. Cody realized then that the only way to make a real change was to be on the other side of the law, actively fighting the forces that tore families apart.

Throughout high school, Cody managed to keep his distance from gang life, despite its omnipresence. He focused on his studies and poured his energy into sports, particularly boxing, which gave him a sense of discipline and structure that he lacked at home. Boxing became an outlet for his frustration with the world around him, allowing him to stay grounded and focused. His coach, a former Los Santos Sheriff’s deputy, noticed Cody’s potential and took him under his wing, teaching him not just about boxing but about life and the importance of staying true to one’s values.

As Cody got older, the violence around him escalated. Friends he had grown up with were either being recruited into gangs, locked up, or worse—killed. Despite the tragedies that mounted, Cody’s resolve grew stronger. His motivation wasn’t just personal; it was rooted in a deep desire to protect his community. He saw firsthand how the gang culture preyed on young kids, trapping them in a cycle of violence and poverty that was nearly impossible to escape. Cody knew that he could make a difference, but he needed the right platform to do so.

After graduating high school, Cody enrolled in the criminal justice program at Los Santos Community College. His academic focus was on law enforcement and community relations, where he excelled due to his unique perspective on street life and the challenges faced by the city’s most vulnerable neighborhoods. He learned about the systemic issues that contributed to gang violence, but also the ways in which law enforcement could build trust and provide meaningful support to communities like Willowfield.

While in college, Cody took on part-time jobs, including working as a security guard for local businesses in his neighborhood. These jobs gave him a small taste of what it was like to enforce the rules and keep people safe. However, the limitations of being a security guard quickly became apparent—he couldn’t do much beyond calling the police when situations got out of hand. Cody realized that to truly make a difference, he needed to be in a position where he could take action, prevent crime, and protect people before it was too late.

Cody’s decision to apply to the Los Santos County Sheriff’s Department was driven by his belief in proactive community policing. He wanted to be more than just a presence in his neighborhood—he wanted to bridge the gap between law enforcement and the residents of areas like Willowfield. Cody knew that many people in his community had a deep distrust of law enforcement, and in some cases, rightfully so. But he also believed that positive change could come from within, and that someone like him, who had lived the same struggles as the people in Willowfield, could be a force for that change.

His experiences growing up gave him a unique insight into the challenges of gang violence, poverty, and broken homes. Cody understood the pressures that young people faced in Willowfield, and he wanted to show them a different path, just as his older brother had tried to show him. He believed that by joining the Sheriff’s Department, he could not only serve as a protector but as a mentor, showing kids that there was a way out—a life that didn’t end in jail or the morgue.

Cody Quintero’s journey to joining the Los Santos County Sheriff’s Department is rooted in his deep love for his community and his determination to fight back against the forces that have torn it apart for far too long. He wants to be a part of the solution, not just for himself, but for the future of Willowfield and the countless others who deserve a safer, better life. With his background, his grit, and his unwavering commitment to service, Cody is ready to take the next step and dedicate himself to making a real difference on the streets he’s called home his entire life.
