Disqualification

There are very few automatic bases for rejection. Even issues of prior misconduct, such as prior illegal drug use, driving under the influence, theft, or even arrest or conviction are usually not, in and of themselves, automatically disqualifying. However, deliberate misstatements or omissions can and often will result in your application being rejected, regardless of the nature or reason for the misstatements/omissions. In fact, the number one reason individuals “fail” background investigations is because they deliberately withhold or misrepresent job-relevant information from their prospective employer.

BOTTOM LINE: You are responsible for providing complete, accurate, and truthful responses.

Spoiler: show
Lucas Floyd was born and raised in Boston, Massachusetts, the son of Jane and Clark, who had come to the U.S chasing the American dream. His folks worked hard—really hard—just to keep things steady at home. They weren’t struggling, but they sure as hell weren’t living it up either. Growing up, Lucas learned that every dollar mattered. By the time he hit high school, he was bussing tables at local cafés during the summers, determined to pitch in and maybe take a little weight off his parents’ shoulders.

Lucas was your average kid—never the life of the party but not a total loner either. He had his circle and stuck to it. School was the same story. He wasn’t winning any academic awards, but he had a thing for sciences. He was the type of kid who’d stay after class to mess around with lab equipment, just because he wanted to see how things ticked. Humanities, on the other hand? Not his jam, but he did just enough to keep his GPA above 3.0. He knew how much college meant to his parents, and he wasn’t about to blow his shot at getting some financial aid.

After high school, Lucas headed to the University of Massachusetts in Boston to study Forensic Science. He snagged a gig as a lab assistant, which was perfect for him, hands-on experience and a little extra cash in his pocket. Still, by the time he graduated, he didn’t have a clear idea of what he wanted to do next but always had a desire to be a law enforcement officer, however his parents put him off the idea saying the wage wasn’t good enough and should look at other avenues for a career.

So, he packed up and moved to Liberty City, enrolling at LCU for a master’s in forensic pathology. He worked as a pharmacist on the side to cover his bills, but honestly, his personal life was pretty uneventful. Even with the degree under his belt, something still felt off, like he hadn’t found his calling yet – maybe a career as a detective or a criminal profiler could be an option in the future?

When a job offer from the San Andreas Institute of Technology in Los Santos came his way, Lucas didn’t think twice. It was the fresh start he’d been itching for—a new coast, a chance to keep learning, and maybe, just maybe, a shot at finally feeling like he was where he was supposed to be.
After graduating from SAIT Lucas obtained a BSc in Technology and had a “career” start as a Tech Consultant for a technology manufacture, but to him it wasn’t a career at all. The burning desire to serve a greater cause was still itching away at him, he knew he wanted to help people and now after so many years chopping and changing Lucas decided that now in 2024 it was time to consider what he always wanted to be – a Law Enforcement officer.

Lucas seen the amazing work law enforcement had done around LS, helping the vulnerable and irradicating crime that plagued the street, he decided to try and join the LSPD.
After applying Lucas was hopeful that his career that he’d dreamed of was going to be a reality so soon, but then it came crashing down…

Lucas checked his application form and found that there was a note on his online application notifying that the LSPD are no longer recruiting, with a heavy heart he shut his laptop screen, picked up his keys and headed back out couriering. When out delivering some parcels to a customer, he got talking about what had happened with his application for and the customer recommended the LSSD, saying the were still recruiting and he should give it a shot.

For the rest of Lucas’ shift he was desperate to get home and apply, he had totally overlooked that the LSSD was another credible law enforcement agency that Lucas could take the opportunity of and help them excel at protecting citizens under their valiant watch. As soon as Lucas got home he swooped into his home office, grabbed his laptop and logged online, searching for the Deputy Sheriff role and got to work writing out his application.
