MONTHLY NEWSLETTER

INTRODUCTION

Hello everyone,

As we step into the new month, I want to take a moment to recognize all of your remarkable energy and dedication coming from every corner of our faction. The past month, April, has been a month of growth, commitment, and dedication, one month where our promises evolved into action and progress became a daily occurrence. From impressive increases in activity to significant internal restructuring, it's clear that we're not only moving forward but building something stronger together.

With over 25 new members joining our ranks and a consistent in-game presence, backed by persistent updates, our numbers and presence can now speak volumes. We have achieved a faction-wide average of over 41 hours of activity per day, with certain individual standouts going above and beyond. Promotions have been earned, leadership has stepped up, and new updates have paved the way for a more responsive and well-trained department.

These accomplishments aren't just statistics on paper, they're the result of countless hours, shared dedication, commitment to a loved faction, and a common goal to raise the bar in every facet of what we do whether you've led from the front lines or contributed quietly behind the scenes, your role is part of this evolving success.

Now, as you read through our newsletter, take pride in what we've achieved, and more importantly, stay driven for what's to come, this faction's future is bright, and it's being shaped in every report written, every scene handled, and every moment you choose to represent this faction with integrity and pride.

Best Regards,
Chief Connor Hackett, Proxy

MESSAGE FROM THE SHEIFF

Image
Hello everyone,

April was a turning point for the faction. I wanted to give you all a quick update on where we’re headed and some of the recent changes. We've seen a massive uptick in our activity. We often have 10+ members on during peak times and we encourage passive roleplay during those times.

We've revised our pursuit policy. The focus is no longer on chasing to win. Our priority is realism and crafting solid, believable roleplay. We don't want our scenes to feel forced or one-sided. That means putting quality and experience above the outcome, we will terminate pursuits if the other party is relying on climbing mountains or any situation which would result in us acting unrealistically.

We’ve also made some adjustments to how alternative characters are handled, and we’ve dropped the requirement for shotgun certification. Instead, we’re leaning on clear expectations for using them realistically and within reason. On top of that, we’re putting an emphasis on transparency. Some of you may have seen our thread on the main forums where you can ask questions or voice concerns. We will also announce changes there. More changes are coming through May, all aimed at maintaining our standard of quality roleplay We also intend to open recruitment this month and look forward to seeing new faces.

We appreciate all of you who’ve supported these steps so far. We hope to keep building something great.

Regards,
Sheriff Jacob Beckett

BUREAU UPDATES

CENTRAL PATROL DIVISION — WEST VINEWOOD STATION

April has been quite a turbulent month for the West Vinewood Station and the Department as a whole, chiefly as a result to the change in leadership and the consequential adjustments that were, and still are, being made. In regards to WVS, the transition has been overall extremely smooth and I am very pleased to witness the overall quality of the members assigned to the station, field staff and supervisors alike. Their contribution to the station's operations are invaluable and it's safe to say that each and every single person is, at minimum, performing at the level of quality that members of the LSSD are expected to operate at.

However, being in a good place doesn't mean that we must remain stagnant. In collaboration with station supervisors, we are constantly seeking out new ways to further improve the roleplay experience of all those assigned to WVS so as to assure that everyone is having fun and enjoying themselves. One major focus is station-level roleplay; occasions like roll calls, tight-knit interactions and planned station events all play a part in both improving out of character relations between members as well as exploring new avenues of roleplay that don't necessarily relate to the law enforcement aspect. Other matters that we are attending to include regulation adjustments and improvements, streamlining of processes that are unnecessarily complicated and removal of ones that are deemed redundant among other endeavors.

While we are constantly trying to grow, we can't do it without the assistance and input of our most cherished members - field staff. They are the backbone of the entire faction, so anything that is aimed towards them should be beneficial and agreed upon by the majority. For any and all questions, concerns and/or suggestions, please reach out; in the end, we're here to have fun in this game together.

Regards,

— Captain Calvin Goodwin
Unit Commander, West Vinewood Sheriff's Station

DETECTIVE DIVISION — OPERATION SAFE STREETS BUREAU

This month has been a period of significant transition for the Operation Safe Streets Bureau, especially as we make changes to our paperwork filings and membership framework. The application of a personnel cap at a maximum of 15 is a change that is needed to avoid over-saturating our unit with the current population of faction members.

In addition to that, we have also carefully assessed our documentation processes. We've removed several redundancies that slowed down productivity. These changes eliminate unnecessary forms without sacrificing the integrity of our reporting standards.

Moreover, we are also suggesting a full overhaul of SanGang database to bring it back to its initial goal that was an open-source intelligence tool aimed mainly at verified POI files. We are hoping to implement a clearer guidelines, and grant equal admin access for PD and SD in order to improve the system's efficiency. For any questions or concerns regarding these changes, OSS Command remains available and receptive.

Regards,

— Captain Trevor Reeves
Unit Commander, Operation Safe Streets Bureau

ADMINISTRATIVE SERVICES DIVISION — HEADQUARTERS

Hello,

With my recent return to the division where it all began, I’ve taken the lead on reestablishing core operations within the Administrative Services and Professional Standards Divisions. A comprehensive project layout has been introduced to restore each bureau’s structure, improve workflow, and ensure our training schools and internal resources are maintained to standard, while both the divisions remain under active development, we’re making tangible progress every day, and the results are beginning to show.

For those inquiring about the Basic Sergeant Supervisory School, the program is currently undergoing a full overhaul. We expect it to resume operations by the end of the upcoming week. If you're planning to apply, be sure to meet the eligibility requirements beforehand, best of luck to all who pursue it.

In terms of recruitment, the Department is nearing a milestone period as we approach the community’s anniversary. The hiring process itself is being restructured in preparation and is expected to reopen within the next 10 to 14 days, spread the word.

Continued progress is being made, and we look forward to what’s ahead.

Regards,

— Division Chief Connor Hackett
Chief of Administrative and Professional Standards

ADMINISTRATIVE SERVICES DIVISION — TRAINING BUREAU

During April, the Training Bureau underwent several quality control enhancements. Notably, recruitment standards have been significantly elevated, marking a shift away from mass recruitment and toward cultivating a more professional environment, beginning at the candidate level.

Looking ahead to May, additional improvements are anticipated. These will streamline the recruitment process for applicants by reducing bureaucratic obstacles, without compromising the high standards we’ve established. We are working on simplifying the application form and automating several other processes which will result in an overall smoother and faster recruitment process.

On another note, the Weapons Training Unit has been re-established within the Training Bureau, overseeing Remington 870 and AR-15 certifications, as well as planning and coordinating training sessions for our personnel in weapon usage, situational awareness, deputy safety, etc.

Moving forward, Training Bureau assignments will serve as primary assignments for our members, ultimately becoming bonus assignments. This structure is intended to support members in pursuing administrative career advancement within the Department through the Training Bureau.

Regards,

— Captain Lucius Campbell
Unit Commander, Training Bureau

ADMINISTRATIVE SERVICES DIVISION — BASIC SERGEANT SUPERVISORY SCHOOL

Hello,

May is shaping up to be an exciting month for the Basic Sergeant Supervisory School as we look to reopen our doors on May 7th. Along with the reopening, we’re going to be rolling out several important improvements aimed at raising the quality of the program and making our operations more efficient in meantime.

We’re currently in the process of overhauling the BSSS curriculum and materials, including the creation of a form generator/formatter. This tool will make it much easier to prepare Daily Observation Reports and other required submissions for the program, saving time on formatting so both Sergeant Trainees and Trainers can focus on what really matters — the content of their work.

We’re also in the midst of changing the Sergeant (P) process. After thorough review, we’re strongly considering reverting back to the former system where Deputy Sheriff (Bonus II) process as the entry point for BSSS and maintain that rank as a Student Supervisor/Assistant Field Sergeant until completion of the program, as we believe this approach is better aligned with the goals and standards we want to uphold.

Finally, I want to recognize the critical role of our current Sergeants. Moving forward, Sergeants with at least two months in rank will be expected to take an active role in BSSS as Sergeant Trainers, providing guidance and mentorship to participants if they wish to advance or be considered for promotion to the rank of Lieutenant.

Regards,

— Captain Robert Geisbauer
Coordinator, Basic Sergeant Supervisory School

ADMINISTRATIVE SERVICES DIVISION — FIELD TRAINING PROGRAM

Hello,

We have recently revamped the FTP process in an attempt to shorten the timeline required for someone to graduate along with making sure the process remains simplified. After lengthy discussions between the FTP Management, we figured it'd be best to ditch the old system and replace it with the following while ensuring the quality of the DSTs being trained does not drop.

For the general public, as it stands, we have revamped Phase 1 to having one Daily Observation Report & one Training Session Report. This phase will last a week and once the week has passed, FTP Management may review the trainee's file and process them to Phase 2 where they'll have two DORs. Again, after a week's time, should they get evaluated and progressed further to Phase 3, the DSTs may deploy Support Car duties. We feel this change would encourage the others to apply for LSSD more as it kills the 'grinding' process, and focuses more on actual community interactions and giving the DSTS a chance to prove themselves in the field rather than being evaluated by DORs.

Closing it off, I'd like to say that the whole purpose of FTP is to ensure the DSTs are properly trained although we also don't want to make it a 'grinding' process. If the general population feels we should look into something regarding FTP, we will definitely hear them out. That being said, should anyone have any questions, please feel free to reach out to me. I'll be more than happy to guide you regarding the FTP process, and would also love to hear any suggestions you may have to further improve the FTP.

Thank you,

— Captain Kareem Fontaine
Coordinator, Field Training Program

SPECIAL OPERATIONS DIVISION — SPECIAL ENFORCEMENT BUREAU

Since my return, the Bureau has seen three successful deployments, each executed with the professionalism, precision, and safety that this unit has long been known for. I want to personally thank every member who contributed to those operations, and all who supported us behind the scenes.

While this chapter begins, it’s important to acknowledge the dedication of every candidate who pursued a role within SEB, your ambition and commitment to specialized service do not go unnoticed, and I sincerely wish you all the best in your continued paths within the Department. The spirit of SEB: preparedness, discipline, and service under pressure lives on in each of you.

Until then, stay sharp, stay safe, and keep leading by example.

Regards,

— Lieutenant Benjamin Stone
Operations Lieutenant, Special Enforcement Bureau
